My friend Kathy turned me on to this pattern of a bunny center. She is making a baby blanket but I am just doing a scarf. I made 9 squares using an H hook and this pattern. I used some scraps from those that June sent me.

Chatter

Only two projects left from 2011 early start. And two left started late in the year. The Dr Who scarf and the elephant afghan were started early this year and are two large projects. I won't be able to finish them this year but am currently working on the Charted Elephant afghan or throw. The Dr. Who scarf is a knit project and will also not be finished this year.

I have also started the Granny Daughter afghan and the scrap wrap to go with it. They will have to be completed next year also. These are both scrap projects.

I am going to try and concentrate on these four items as I am dying to make some dish and wash cloths as we are in desperate need of both of these items. I hope my want and need does not overtake my desire to complete these other items. Wish me strong will.

Scrap Slippers

In another side-step I made these slippers. No pattern was used, just out of my head. I did use a "G" hook and the final scraps I had of Patrons, Fresco yarn in /white, flamingo and ocean. My plan is to put some nonskid fabric on the bottom. Other than that they are complete. I love the way the colors turned out with one being a solid color and the other is the left overs.

I started out like making a tiny hat then I just worked around so many stitches and did a back and forth for each row. I then sewed the back by working half way across to create a center then did a sc into both side. I added three flowers I had already made from other yarn and that is all there was too it.

I am not giving stitch counts as they would be as individual as your own foot, which is what i used as my measure.

Ankle Warmers

Using a "H" hook and Red Heart Symphony yarn in the color River Blue as I had done with the cowl hood, I made these ankle warmers. This lightweight yarn and is more like fuzzy string. The skein size is 3.5 oz. I felt this yarn went a long way.

Here is another photo with me wearing them. I made this pattern very easy by starting with 35 sc, closing to make a circle, being careful not to twist yarn. I then did 20 rounds of dc and called it good. They are shorter than leg warmers, thus the name.

I made these in one day, as I traveled in the car.

Ruffle Rose Pillow

This is an easy project but for me, it was not a fun project. It was boring and large for the amount of fun. I am glad it is done. It was made with Jamie Classic and Red Heart Monet using the pattern found at Red Heart. It is a free pattern. My hook sizes were one size larger than asked for in the pattern as I crochet tightly.

I did not go all the way to the edge with the flower ruffles. I wanted the flower to stand out more. I also made my own type of back for the pillow. I did a spiral in dc stitches. I used the same colors that were in the Monet color. As I said this pillow is large, huge actually, I will be keeping this one for myself on my bed.

I used the reverse sc or crab stitch to put the two pieces together. I love the rope look of this stitch when it is done.

With these last two projects I completed I still have these projects on my hooks and needles at this time. The scrap wrap is being made with the scraps from the Granny Daughter Blanket.

Babette

Finally finished the dreaded Babette blanket. It will be used in the car, when we get it back, to use for warmth when necessary. I have chosen not to give it to anyone since I am not happy with it.

It is made using an "H" hook and various squares of different sizes that I have made over time. Most were from projects started and not finished for one reason or other. Yarns used were all acrylic worsted weights. So happy this one is history. Now to finish the Rose Pillow, the form to fill it is on it's way to me.

Side Step 2

Well, this was not as fast as the other because I did not stick with it. But it is complete now and I used the same pattern as the first one found in Crochet World Magazine.

With this one I used a "J" hook and Red Heart Symphony yarn in the color River Blue. This is a very lightweight yarn and is more like fuzzy string. The skein size is 3.5 oz. and it claims to be worsted medium weight. For me I found it amazing that after doing the nine rounds in the pattern I had not even used up 1/4th of the skein. Once again I kept on going till I reached 20 rounds then one round each on top and bottom of sc. Now I am considering leg warmers or fingerless gloves to go with the cowl. This one I am for sure keeping myself.

Oh, and I have been working on the Babette, which is not as nice as I hoped, and also the rose pillow. I am also thinking of doing some Plarn. I have cut up several bags for the project. Not sure what I will make, something small I am sure.

Side Step

I got a bit sidetracked with wanting to start something new. So I made a Cowl from some one skein yarn I had left over from another project done last year.

For the Cowl I used the pattern that was featured in the Crochet World Magazine for December 2011. The pattern is called Chunky Speckled Neck Warmer and is free for that month.

I used Red Heart Baby Clouds in Pink Lemonade. It is a bulky yarn but I only used about half the skein when I had completed the 9 rounds called for in the pattern. Therefore I continued on since I did not want just a partial amount left over. I continued until I used up the skein and wound up with a hooded cowl.

It is so soft and I am going to love wearing it as I trot to the store or go to the doctors office. Oh, I gave it to my daughter but I am in the process of making another.

MAM Scarf

Here is the Mile A Minute Scarf that I completed from the strip that June sent me along with all the scrap yarns. There is no pattern as I made it up as I went along, but if you enlarge the photo and look closely I am sure you can duplicate the pattern as it is really only DC's. The only info I can give you on yarn type used is the border color of two rounds. I used in Red Heart in Frosty Green. It sounds fitting for the season approaching. I think it blended well with the other colors. My hook size was an "H" and it is 54" long. I have used the size a lot lately in my work.
My next project I hope to work on is the Rose Pillow and the Babette Blanket.

I was not happy with the ottoman cover and had to put straps on it to hold it in place. So, I did that yesterday. Then I completed the Granny Trio Pot Holder set.

But I like my potholders thick so I took them one step further and made a pot handle holder and one pot holder by crochet two others together.

I used the pattern found in the August, 2011 issue of Crochet World Magazine on pg 58.

Ottoman Cover

I finished this one yesterday. There is no pattern as I did it myself. I used scraps of yarn I had left from other projects and used an "H" hook with a dc stitch all around. I did the top increasing each round until it measured the top of my ottoman then I worked one round in just the back loop and no increases. I then just keep working the rounds without increases until it measured my satisfaction.

Today I will work on finishing the set of three potholders that I have started.

Gift Box

I received this lovely box of yarn scraps yesterday from my friend June over at She Spins Wool. This box has inspired me to pick up my hooks again, now that we are settled from our last move.

I believe I have others that are not totally complete, I will have to look though. In June's package there was a started project that looked like the center of mile a minute afghan. Framing A Flower by Aurora Suominen.

I used an "H" hook. The square was 6-1/2" when finished by me. I used Impeccabble Worsted in Summerset Ombre, Fiesta Ombre in Red Heart Mill Ends. This was an easy square to make. I whipped it out in a couple of hours. I am sure it would be less time for most people but I crochet slowly.

Vintage Wheel Square

Using an "H" hook and Mill Ends in Ombre Greens this square turned out to be 6-1/2".
It took me less then an hour as I watched TV to make this square.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Acrylic in Shocking Pink, and mill ends in the color Monet.
My hook was an "H". My square came out at 8". This square was fun to make and quick too. It was written very well and I had no problems following the pattern at all. I think this square would make a lovely throw.

Reflected DragonFly Square

Mine came out to be 7” with a “H” hook and Lion Brand Jamie Classic in Lilac Worsted Weight yarn Aurora S. This was a fun square to make and went real fast, since it is just a smaller square. I have made so many 12" squares lately it is nice to make some smaller ones also.

There was an omission error in the pattern but if you can figure out what you did on one side you can figure out both sides and know what that omission was. Sorry my photo does not show the dragonfly very well but it is a lovely square.

Tahoe

This square is Tahoe by The Crochet Dude.

This is the final square in Drew's Booklet. The pattern is not available except in the booklet. Mine was 12" unblocked and I truly love this square. It has a very linear feel to it and I love the cable look. I did this one in a solid color so the texture or cables would show up better. My yarn was Red Heart Super Saver in Kelly Green. Still using the "H" hook.

I have two more squares to make that I have collected from The Crochet Dude. I will then move on to other squares. Not really sure where I am heading yet. But I know I am ready to turn the corner.

TIP
Do all those patterns from yarn labels find themselves scattered about your craft area? Well, why not tuck them away in a old plastic bag. Perhaps one with a zipper that a sheet set came in.

Angel Square

Mine came out at 8" unblocked I used an "H" hook and acryclic yarn of various colors. I was not real wild over the way the pattern was written but love the look it created. I do wish I had stuck to solid colors in the center. As the pattern is what make this block a standout.

Cat Tracks

This is Cat Tracks by Drew Emborsky.

I love the title of this square but it is sure a yarn eater. I uses almost a half a 6oz. skein on this one square using an "H" hook. I choose to do this square in a solid color as I needed a few solid squares. My choice of yarn was Red Heart worsted weight acrylic in Purple. It did not photograph very well.

I also took a few liberties to make the square come out 12" for me. On the last two rounds I did a hdc around and then a round of sc.

I am thinking of assembling all these Crochet Dude Squares together to make a throw. I will try to do the Dudessembly to join with. I tried this once before and could not do it. Hopefully, my talents and reading abilities have progressed since then.

Marigold

This square is called Marigold by The Crochet Dude. There is once again no link for the pattern except to the booklet.

This was a fast square to make. Something I find to be unusual with Drew's squares. Most are very long and the pattern is repetitious. Not so in this case. The flower center was something new to me the way that he did it and I find that I learn a lot from making his squares.

It turned out at 10-1/2" with my "H" hook and my Mill Ends in Ombre Greens, and Lion Brand Jamie Classic in Pink with a trim of Red Heart in Lavender. All were worsted weight acrylic yarns.

I selected not to change colors as often as stated in the pattern. I like the greens around the pink, it is very flower-like.

TIP
Here is an idea for keeping all those supplies other than yarn together. Try using a shoebox or a hinged lid container that you can purchase in supply stores. A great way to organize your needles, scissors, buttons, eyes, stitch markers, etc. and other supplies and keep them handy. This way you know right where to go when you need that tape measure or ruler for measuring square sizes.

Rose Ruffled Pillow

This is the Ruffle Rose Pillow found at Red Heart. It is project number LW2505.

The front of this pillow measures 21" across. I have started to add the top ruffle to the center of the front. I am using several yarns. One of which is Red Heart Monet, that would be the ruffly on top of the pillow. The other color used as my base color is Lion Brand Jamie Classic in Lilac. Of course the hook size is my current favorite size "H".

This is a very easy pillow to make. It uses mostly sc for the base and the back and sc, hdc, and dc for the ruffle on top that is worked into the front loop of the base stitches.

I have also started the back but am not following the pattern and it is not finished yet but here is a preview what I have done so far. The back is going to be a spiral in the colors that are close to those contained in the Monet color.

Here is a photo of the back finished.

I still have to finish the ruffle on the front to complete this project. But wanted you all to see where I am going.

My plan is to join front and back using the crab stitch or RSC. This is one of the projects I started while working under the WIP at Red Heart. It is a huge pillow at 21".

Sunburst Washcloth

I just finished working on this. Sis and I did it together on line this morning. It is a beautiful washcloth but not really fun to make. It is for an intermediate crocheter. We worked it through but did not have fun doing it.

It can be found in the Crochet World Mag., Aug. 2011 Issue, on Pg. 32. I used one hook size larger than called for that being an "I" and it came out at 8". It only has four rounds and the last one looks like it is two rounds but is only one round.

I used some variegated cotton that I had left over from another project.

Wednesday WIP - Wk 5

Sorry I have not completed anything this week but I have only about three hours to finish an afghan that I am putting the border on. And I am making a pillow that I need to do two more flowers for then assemble the squares. I did not work on the Charted throw or the FDWS this week at all. Oh I also started another pillow that I need to make 6 more rounds on to finish the background of the front side of the pillow. So I am working those hooks but have nothing complete to show today.

This program is sadly ending but I think I will still keep Wednesday's open for finishing projects started. So if you come around once in awhile make it on Wednesday so you can see the finished product. Thanks!

37 more rows added to the FDWS. Still have a long way to go. But I did finally get to add a new color and the last of the colors to the scarf this past week.

I also worked hard on the Babette this week but am so disappointed in it's appearance and the fact that it needs more squares since it is too long and thin. So I guess another week on that one.

I also worked more on the Drew Afghan but it is not complete yet either, also the charted throw. I have got to get these done as I have so many new projects I want to do.

My Pal Patches Finished

I love the way he turned out. I did however make an mistake and forgot to cross his straps in the back. I am far from perfect. But I think he is quite huggable anyway.

And from the front you can bearly tell but I added a little plastic pacifier. I used an "H" hook to complete him.
My yarns were acrylics in Caron One Pounder in White, Red Heart mill ends in Monet, Lion Brand Jamie Classic in Pink and Impeccable in Boysenberry. He is a happy little fellow and will be loved by one. He goes to charity. I have a box that I am collecting to send out at the end of the year.

I spent Sunday working on the Babette. Hope to have it completed by Thurs. for the WIP Wednesday project.

Progress This Week

Just dropping in today to let you all know that this week I am working on getting squares for my Babette Throw ready for assembly. That is the next project I want to finish off. I have four squares to border yet and then I will try and lay it out for assembly and see what I need to fill in those spaces. I will be glad to have this one finished. I will be joining with the whip stitch method. It is the simplest of all the joins.

I have also worked on my squares for my Dudessembly afghan which will be only nine squares of 12" each. That one is bordered already but I have not laid it out or worked on the count of each side in the squares yet. I want this one to be right. See you all on Weds with my WIP report.

WIP - Wednesday - WK 3

Well, I am working on the Babette this week. Although my squares are not all of the basic granny type they are different sizes of different granny type squares. Some are not grannies. So we have a really unusual mix of square types. Mostly what I did this week with it was get the squares ready for joining. I have only just started by framing the squares that I had failed to do so to when I first made them. Sometimes I get in a hurry and forget my usual habits.

Next week I hope to organize them by size and hopefully I will have enough to complete a ghan and start assembling it. Looking ahead I think for this afghan I will probably just whip stitch the squares together. It seems to be the simplest method at this point. I will show more photos as I progress. This is not an easy project for me. I love making the squares but piecing them together is not as much fun as I had hoped it would be.

I did finish the Apple Trivet this past week, see a previous post. And I am still making a square a day at my other blog, so my hooks are staying quite busy.

I also worked on My Pal Patches (Crochet World-CroChet-World.Com-June 2010) a bit. I am at the point of assembling him. He should be ready to show a photo next week. Also, both the Charted Elephant Afghan and the FDW Scarf have been worked on this week.

I am also working on assembly of another ghan made with the squares from my Granny Made Me Do It blog. These would be The Crochet Dude squares and I will be trying to use his Dudessembly plan. We will see what happens with that. I may have to so a little resizing on the squares this week to bring them all to the right measurement and count. These squares will not be featured until June.

I am not posting a lot of photos at this time as they take up bandwidth and are just photos of progress. I would like to wait till I have more to show.

Pineapple Sachet

Actually this is called Apple Trivet at The Left Side of Crochet.

But as I stated before I had great excitement when finding this pattern as I remembered it as a child. I finished it in a couple of hours. The pattern is fast and easy to follow. I used Moda Dea Fashionista in Boysenberry as my yarn and my "H" hook once again.

I omitted the leaves and added a flower to the bottom. I stuffed it with some cotton that I had sprinkled some sachet powder on and folded in half. I then used some ribbon and wove it around the edges and tied a bow. Now I can toss it into my undies drawer and they will remain fresh smelling.

If ever you want to change the cotton inside or refresh the sachet all you have to do is untie the ribbon and refresh to your hearts content.

Week II - Wednesday WIP Challenge

I have a lot to report from yesterday. Working on the Charted Afghan I did get 5 rows done and also worked on braiding the ends a bit. It moved rather quickly I thought. It is still difficult to see the size or the ghan or the pattern that is forming due to the difficulty in photographing the color. But you can see, if you look closely the pyramids forming at the bottom. I am now past those.

It is still hard to show the length of this scarf but here is a photo of the 15 rows I completed yesterday. I am displaying the back side of the scarf this time. I finished the black and started to green band.

I found this pattern of an Apple Trivet and was transported right back to my childhood and memories of my mother. As young girls my sister and I were taught to make these as sachets for a persons undies drawers. Of course mom never made the leaves just the pineapple part. She would then take some cotton stuffing and sprinkle some sachet on it and stuff the center with it then weave the ribbon through it and tie a bow. Some how or other we never had the pattern and forgot how to make them and about them as we grew older. When I spotted this pattern I was on it like syrup on hotcakes. I started one yesterday.

Last but not least, last week I started to make this little doll called My Pal Patches. He just caught my eye. He is from the Crochet World Magazine published in June 2010. He can be found starting on page 32. So far he is adorable and an easy Amigurumi project. He is a bit larger than I first thought. Anyway, I have started his shirt.

So, although I did not complete anything I did make progress and started some new things that will go a bit more quickly to completion. I can't just have two projects going on at a time.

Happy Starfish

This little guy has got to bring a smile to your face.

He was so much fun to make and I am so happy with the results. He would make a great wrist rest for computer or typing use. He is merely called Starfish and you can find the pattern at Red Heart. He is a free pattern and has a friend also. I am not sure I will be making him though. I used a "G" hook and Simply Soft yarns in Lemonade, Pink, and Rust.

The eyes are bobble eyes from Suncatcher and I just added a bit of red for the mouth. He is suppose to be the same color on both sides but I was using scraps so did the best I could. I think I like the change. He was a fun project and I am much happier with him then yesterdays headband.

Headband Disaster

I wasn't going to post this but I always show my disasters as well as my successes. This latest is a piece of jewerly that has been converted to "SHRUG", I don't know. For me I made mine a headband. The pattern is here for anyone wanting to try it.

I used my RH monet colored and Jamie Classic in lilac to make it with. I used a "J" and did mine in sc instead of the hdc as she did in the pattern. I was excited to do this project after I found it but my excitement waned as I progressed.

I suggest using a lighter weight yarn, fingering or sock or finer. Maybe even thread. Then I would also make it narrower. I used 9 sc across. I feel it was too many. But you can experiment with it if you choose to try it.

Chole Cap II & III

This is the same hat done with the same yarn and hook size, but done in a size 4 of the pattern. I gave this one to daughter and she said it was her favorite hat. The flower on this one has wooden beads at the flower peaks in the colors of green and natural.

This is a picture of the hat as seen from the back. I think adding one of the Bonita flowers at the back of one of these Chole Caps would be a marvelous idea. This photo is of the hat made in the size 5 size.

Finally, this photo shows the cap from the side and is of the cap made yesterday.

I also made this one more for me in a size 3 for me and I will be using the flower from the pattern, but I want to try and make it larger. I used the flower from the pattern and added this pattern to make is even larger. I love how it came out and especially the colors, the size is perfect for my head. This will be my last of these caps for a while.

Chloe Cap

This is a hat that acted as the home for one of yesterday's flowers. This hat was the largest one in the pattern from Annie's Attic called Chloe Cap.
The flower is from the pattern posted yesterday at Bonita Patterns. The flower was done with Caron yarn and the hat for today was done with mill ends surplus yarn and does not state a color. The yarn is lovely to work with and has a slightly silky feel to it. My hook was an "H" for the hat and a "G" for the band. Those are the sizes stated in the pattern.

I made this one for my sister and is a size 5. I now have to make two more, one for daughter dear, and one for myself. I will make those with a size 4 I think.

Flower Friday

This is part of what I worked on yesterday. I am making three hats and these are the adornments. More about the hats in a later post.

As to these flowers, the small one is from the hat pattern and I will share that one with you when I post about the hats.

The two larger ones are the same flower but with beads added to the points of one of them. I was experimenting. The pattern is from Bonitapatterns. It is a beautiful thing to look at and to make it is very easy. I will be making more of these.

For these two I used an "H" hook and Caron One Pounder Yarn in the color taupe. One of the hats is almost finished and I hope to post about it tomorrow. I said I am making three of these hats and since my sister loves green she will be getting the first one. The other two are for myself and my daughter.

Wednesday Progress

I started off my day with my usual routine stuff, mail, Bible Reading, Internet sites and then went on to complete the last square for May squares project. I then worked for a while on my Elephant chart project and moved on to the mindless FDW (Faux Dr. Who).

I did forget to mention one other project I have in the making. I forgot only because it is kind of an on going project. But I think I have enough squares made now to complete it or at least work on it. It is my Babette Afghan. I am going to save that one for last and work on the other two first.

It is hard to tell much about this one and because of size it is hard to photograph. The patterns in this booklet are worked one row at a time. Each row is worked on the front only. You do not work back and forth. Stitches used are dc and sc only. This creates the pattern. Basically they are worked in one color in the book but I am sure you can create the pattern in two colors if desired. I am working the pattern as shown in the booklet.

New Program Started

I have not posted here or there in a while now because I have been busy making those May Squares. I have two squares to complete for that project.

I am starting to work with the Red Heart Stitching Weds program which means on Wedensdays I will be working on completeing projects that I have started.

I did want to say that I have two projects started other than the May Squares which I will be working on at this time. One is the Faux Dr. Who Scarf which is a knit project and the other is the Charted Elephant Afghan. I am working on the season 16 scarf in the Dr. Who project.

Butterfly Pillow

I used an old yarn of Color Match in Lilac for the pillow. It was my mothers favorite color. This is a gift for my sister, who does so much for me. The pattern is Butterflies of Spring and can be found in Crochet World, June 2008 issue, on pg.38. I added tassels at the corners and did a reverse sc around to join front and back.

I used a "J" hook. Sis, loves butterflies, did I say that? The pillow form was made for me by Jean at Yarns n More. Thanks Jean. Other colors in the pillow are Peach and Lavender from Jamie Classic yarns. And also Red Heart in Black.

King of the Jungle

I call him Dandy Lion Colorguise because he wears a flower and displays lots of color. I found the pattern in Crochet World Mag., June 2007 issue, on pg.16.

I used an "H" hook, very popular with me right now it seems. Also, the yarn was many brands of scraps and left over bits from previously used skeins.

The flower applique in his mane is found here. I used a much smaller hook for it and baby weight or fingering yarns.

It is hard to see his tail but it is multicolor and if you look close or enlarge the photo you can get a small peek of it.

Bridal Shower Doily

Woven Trivet

I found this wonderful pattern at Adaiha's Blogspot and could hardly wait to make one. Everything was put to the side as I grabbed my "H" hook and acrylic worsted weight yarns of Caron and Red Heart in carrot and taupe. It took me a mere hour to make it and about a half hour to assemble.

This is a real speedy project that is so well written it is hard to make an error. I did follow the pattern except for the type of yarn and I also did not use rings. I just chained 15 stitches and joined and made that my plastic ring.

Luna in Her Beautiful Outfit

Here are three snaps of Luna in her outfit that I made recently. She received in on Friday and could not wait to show off wearing it.

Luna is my niece and belongs to my sister Scarlet over at The Yarn Barn. And if you have visited sis you know that her favorite color is green. Poor Luna is White but it makes for looking good in any color.

Here you can see my original post about this outfit. It gives all the info on the making of it. Personally inspite of problems I had making it, I loved the results and she looks so French wearing it. She should model on the runway.

Yes, it is more dishcloths for my kitchen. Blushing Bride Square made with a "J" hook and Patrons Fresco in Ocean. I liked this pattern it was easy to do, went real fast and I added a round of loops to finish it off that was not included in the pattern. You can make this square larger if you like.

Shells Around made with an "H" hook and Patrons Fresco in Flamingo. This square although attractive was a bit more difficult to make but still easy. I am not as happy with the results of this one as I was with the Blushing Bride Square. But it will work well for cleaning up the kitchen.

Small Winter Burst made with an "H" hook and Patrons Fresco in Ocean. I enjoyed the making of this square. The pattern was easy to follow. Sorry the picture is a bit blurry.

FLOWER LOVE IN 2DOnce again I used an "H" hook and Patrons Fresco in Flamingo and White. I do love this yarn. This pattern was a bit difficult to read for me. I am not sure I did it right, but it is what it is.

And the last one for now is Kittery Square It was a free pattern of the day that I saved. I used an "I" hook this time and Patrons Fresco in Flamingo, White, Ocean.

I am almost out of this yarn, that I love so much, so I guess in the future I will have to go back to cotton. I have a bin full of that.

Love to Cook Hotpad

I did not like the way this came out so I did not add the trim round. I also do not like to cook. But it is thick and works well as a Hotpad. The pattern came from Crochet World Feb. 2010 issue, pg.36. I used an "H" hook and Flocked cotton and Red Heart in Cherry for the middle. It is three layers thick. The back is like the front. I guess all I can say about this project is I hate cooking and the way this turned out. For me it is not a success. Not everything I make turns out well. The edges are awful and the center square was too big for the other two squares. That is what happens when you mix yarns of different weights.

Two More Headbands

This one I made with Simply Soft for the band and the corkscrew was done with acrylic scraps. I used a pattern I made up as I went with hdc and sc rows. Then sewed it together at the ends and added the spirals. It was made with an "F" hook.

Using the same yarns for this one I used the pattern called Striped Headband. I used a "G" hook on this one. This one is my daughters and the other one is mine.

Dishcloths

I have been working on some dishcloths that my kitchen really needed desperately. This first one is called Crochet Dandy Dishcloth, pattern number WR1867. Using an "I" hook and Patrons Fresco yarn in Sailor Blue, White and Flamingo I made this cloth by sticking to the pattern for everything but the colors.

This second cloth was made with Patrons Fresco yarn in Flamingo. I love this yarn for dishcloths and washcloths. I holds up nicely and creates great scrubbing power for dishes or skin. My hook size for this one was an "H" and it is called Hexagon Washcloth. Even though it is a washcloth pattern I will put it the kitchen with the other two I made and use it for dishwashing.

The last one is called Easy Ombre Dishcloth. This cloth pattern makes an excellent square. I used a "G" hook and, once again, Patrons Fresco yarn in Ocean because I do love this stretchy yarn for cloths as I previously stated. I only made three at this time but like the headbands will be making more of these in the future. These three were fast projects and fun to work on.

Keeping Warm Headband

The pattern for this headband can be found here. But you really do not need a pattern as it is only 8 rounds of hdc. I used an "F" hook and Moda Dea in Boysenberry for the band and the flower is done in Jamie Classic in the color Pink. This flower was fun to make and turned out really special. This band goes to my daughter.

Bunting Doll

This cutie is one I have wanted to make for the longest time. Another item to cross off my list. I chose to make the largest one from the pattern found in Crochet World Magazine, Vol 19, Page 5 or at Freepatterns.

I used Simply soft in Mango, Pink, and Lemonade. I tied the bottom closed with a piece of ribbon and put some Lemonade yarn around the neck for decoration. She was fun to make.

The pattern gives options for three sizes and boy or girl doll.

Potholders

I made two of these as I needed a set of potholders anyway. They are called Kaleidoscope Pot Holder. I found the pattern in Crochet World Mag., June 2008 issue, starting on pg.38. Using an "E" hook and #3 crochet cotton thread I started making the wedges.

After working the pattern for a bit I found the wedges to be quite easy to make and fast fun. But I must warn you. The pattern is fussy, by this I mean it involves a lot of what I call busy work or many steps to complete. But I do love the results. Oh, and they are double sided. So you do make four for a complete set of two.

This Years Outfit for Luna

Yes, this is Luna's 2011 outfit from his auntie sissy. It is a poncho and hat set made from Homespun yarn in the colors of Dusty Blue, Florida Keys Green and Lemonade. Using hook size "H" and the pattern found at e-pattern central called Her Poncho and Hat I found that I still strayed from the original pattern. I either misread or did not understand the pattern and had to go off on my own to complete the hat and the bones part of the poncho. Shrug! I don't think Luna will care and think she will still look adorable in the outfit. I will post a picture of her in the outfit after I send it off and sis gets it. Flower Trimmed Headband

This is the last headband that I have made so far. I will be making more but started some other projects at this time also. Two of which are gifts.

Anyway, I digress, this headband is a bit different than the rest I have made. It is a complete circle and made with a shell stitch. The pattern can be found here. I chose to use my own flower pattern as opposed to the ones in the pattern. I also made the center a small pom pom.

Yarn that was used is Moda Dea Fashionista, such a nice soft yarn. The color is Boysenberry. The hook size used was an "F". The flower was made with Simply Soft yarn.

There is another band shown in this picture and my plans are to make one of these also in the near future, but I am taking a brief break from headbands at this time to complete my two secret projects. I may be quiet for a bit but don't worry I am still around.

Crocheted Clown

Sis and I have just started to make this adorable pattern. I guess we are really into clowns these days. I am using Red Heart White and Green, Coats and Clark Kids Yarn in Crayon Ombre, and some unlabeled Terra Cotta colored yarn. Hook size is "I".

I have completed the head so far as of this posting. Sis suggested that we do latch hook hair. And I love that idea. I did not want all those ridges on my face from working in back loop only as the pattern called for, so the latch hook was the fix for that. Now I can start loading a few new projects on my hook.

Granny Shrug 2 Done

He loves it! Travis selected the colors red and black for his shrug. I used an "I" hook and two brands of yarn, you can see the slight color difference if you look closely. He said it did not matter to him, he just wanted the warmth. I used Caron and Red Heart. I don't think I am up to making another for me. You can view this entry if you want the link for the pattern.

Trio of Headbands

I will talk about each of these seperately as the top, middle and bottom headband.

First the top one was made with RH Kids in Crayon and using a "G" hook. The flower is one I made, and displayed a while back, with French Crochet or my spoolie. You can see the post here. It will tell you what I did to make the flower. My daughter selected this one instead of the bottom one as hers because she loved the flower. I used the crochet head hugger pattern for the band.

The middle one is a repeat of one I already made called Ribbed Headband, this one has a butterfly instead of a heart on it and it is mine. I used a "G" hook for this one also. I used Jamie Classic in Peach for the yarn.

This bottom one is a creation of my own, including the decorative flower. I used a new to me stitch I found that is called Herringbone stitch. You can see the video for it here. It is so easy, I was amazed and could not wait to try it. So, I made a chain long enough to measure around my head, then I did three rows of the Herringbone stitch and added the little flower and sewed on some buttons. The flower is made with a pom pom center that I made myself. I used the same yarn as the top headband.

Those are my offerings for today. I am still on a headband kick so you will be seeing more. I am also only nine rows from completing the granny shrug for my grandson and I now have the elastic to assemble the clown so you should see him in a day or two. After that I have nothing on my hooks except the Faux Dr. Who Scarf. But my list of 'want to make' is quite long.

Headbands

After making myself the headband I posted about on March 10th, my daughter saw me wearing it and wanted one also. Doesn't it always happen that way! So now I am into making lots and lots of headbands. Here are a few I have done so far. OH, and for each one I make for Alicia, I make one for me, but I am only posting pictures of those I made for her. This first one is called Nadie - crochet headband / hair wrap. I truly like this one. It has style and yet is easy enough that once you do two rows you no longer need to refer to the pattern to continue. This one I made for myself using Bernat Baby Boucle in the color Fancy Free. Hook size was a "G".

These two went to Alicia, her Nadia was done in an unmarked blue I had in my scrap bag. It was an acrylic, probably Red Heart by the scratchy feel of it. Maybe the color was Baby Blue, I really am not sure. Hook size, once again, was a "G".

This top one is a mindless pattern called EASY RIBBED HEADBAND and was made with an "H" hook and Jamie Classic yarn by Lion Brand in the color Peach. A very simple pattern. The heart was made with a pattern I found on Crochet Pattern Central called Valentine Heart Fridgie and is quick and easy to make with scraps.

Finally, this next one was made using up some flocked white yarn, unlabeled again and an "H" hook. It is the Chemo Headband. The little flower is one I made for something else that I abandoned a while back and don't have much information to share with you on. This is the final one I am showing today but actually it was the first one I made of all of these. Hope you found something you like and will have fun trying your hand at a headband.

Chemo Flower Cap

This hat is so pretty but a lot of work. It takes a lot of sewing, if you don't like hand stitching then don't try this Chemo Flower Cap. The pattern number is LW2253.

I used for the flower the Red Heart Monet yarn and for the hat I used an unlabeled lilac yarn. My hook was a size "H" for most portions and a "G" for some starts. It contains a new technique to me and I love the spiral effect of the top.

Flower Headband

I took another sidestep to make this, much needed,Crochet Flower Headband. I found the pattern the other day and knew right away that this was a must make soon project. It only took about three hours to make and I am a slow crochet person.

It was kind of hard to get a good picture since it is so long. I folded it half and took another photo showing how it clasps in the back. I used a "G" hook and Lion Brand Jamie Classic yarn in Lilac for the band and Red Heart bulk package yarn in the Monet for the flower. It fits well but the pattern explains how to make it fit each head.

No bot behind his name, shrug! He looks like a chicken in a belt to me. He looked like a chicken before I made him too. He is the last one I am making in the book. There is one more called Geisha but I do not want to make her. Maybe in the future. So this is the last bot you will see for a while.

I do have some other things planned for my hooks. I am currently working on a Granny Shrug, a clown, a hat, and a scarf. I do have other things planned but will not mention them now.

Faux Dr. Who Scarf

Season 16 version. My needle size is 5-1/2mm. I must say this is a very long scarf and will be in my list for a long time. But if you knit it is mindless work. This is the answer to my blogpost made previously about Sneak Peek. I have made big progress since I first started but have a long way to go yet.

I did start this scarf once before but did not have the right colors, so I quit and frogged it. I still don't, but wanted to make it so badly that I decided to select colors that I had. My first one was a mix of weights of yarn also, that is mostly what I did not like about it. This one is all made with Simply Soft in the colors shown below. I do love the feel of it and it is quite warm already too.

The colors are the reason I am calling this a faux Dr. Who. They are not the correct colors but the counts of rows for color changes are. Once again I am showing my pattern rebelness. Oh, I don't think that is a word but in my vocabulary it is now.

I will not post about this scarf again until it is finished.

One Skein Bunny Finished

As I stated before I used an "H" hook and Pound of Love yarn by Lion Brand in the color Turquoise to make this One Skein Bunny. I don't have much more to say about it, except I love it and I gave it to my grandson who is an adult and he loves it.

The bunny has a name, sis and I discussed what it would be if she got the bunny. She wanted him too. His name is Wellington. I have other plans for something to make and send to sis. Hope it comes out as well as Wellington did. I know she will love it as much. Oh, and I forgot to mention he has a purple tail cuz I like the color combination. Also, the bunny has a tag on his toe. It is a heart that says, "Made With Love."

Smooth Fox's Charity Cause

Well I am really keeping my hooks busy these days. The shrug I was making for me I gave to my daughter who really needed it as her room is cold and she sits at the computer a lot. She loves it so much. So my grandson wants one now, he stays in the basement and it is cold down there too.

He selected red and black as his colors and this is the start of another shrug. I am using and "I" hook and Red Heart black and Caron Red. Hope this one won't take me as long to finish but black is hard to work with, especially at night.

Granny Stripe Shrug

Finally finished the Granny Stripe Shrug. I used all of the variegated and ombre yarns that I currently had. I also made it with an "I" hook. I am thrilled with the finished product and it was a simple pattern to follow but a bit boring after a while doing the same stitch but the change in yarn colors made it go a bit faster.

I began with 150 chains, then hdc in the third ch from hook and worked hdc across the row.

I then did a chain three, skipped two stitches and worked three dc in the next stitch. I did this across the row ending with two dc in last stitch.

I chained three and turned.

I repeated this process for 63 rows.

On row 64 I chained three from row 63 and worked hdc in each stitch across row 64. Finish.

I then changed to red for my border color and worked to rounds of sc around doing three sc in each corner on each round.

NOTE: I paid no attention to where the yarn ended. I did not start and end a row at the beginning of a row. I just made sure that my tails were on the wrong side of garment. If you can't tell which is which side, I suggest you mark the right side unless you plan on starting and ending your rows at the beginning of each row.

Gift For Baby

My daughter asked me yesterday to make something for a friend of hers that just had a baby. So I whipped up this hat and sweater set and included a little grab toy. The entire set was made using an "H" hook and Pound of Love yarn in a blue. Sorry no label so I can't give you the correct color.

The pattern for the toy is called Baby's First Doll and was really fast and fun to make. I have had this pattern saved forever and finally had a chance to make it. I hope to make more of them in the future. The face part was made using Jamie yarn in a pink.

The sweater is the same one I made last week called Hexagon Jacket, and can be found at Bev's site. This also is a fast and easy pattern. I changed the cuffs and sweater band to my own taste and to make it a bit tighter. Used the hdc and sc stitches instead of fp and bp. I finished it with happy face buttons in many colors to add some interest.

Since the sweater was done in a granny type stitch pattern I looked for a hat that would match and found the Granny Style Baby Hat. Since this is for a boy I chose to use the reverse crochet stitch for the edging instead of the scallop. I hope she will like it.

Cosmic Bear Bot

As you can see I skipped many of the beads and made mine in a soft brown instead of the dark blue. I really like the way he came out. His ears make him look so darn cute.

I am still working on the Faux Dr. Who Scarf and the Granny shrug. I have an elephant, bear and some baby dolls I want to make next. I have seen a lot of really nice dishcloth patterns and afghan patterns out there lately too. Oh a crocheters lament..."Lots to do, and no time to do it!"

Here is the next in the family of bots. He is BabyBot and was easy enough to make. I enjoyed making the face on this one a lot.

I have taken to making the parts for all the rest of the bots in the book and then assembling them in a few days time of each other. So he was completed a few days ago and assembled yesterday. I still have the last five in the book to crochet and need to assemble nine of them.

Tiny The Clown

I used a "C" hook and number 3 crochet thread in the colors, monet, buttercup, black, cream and red. I used the smallest pom pom maker to make the pom poms. The hardest part was the assembly but even that was easier than I thought it would be. Sis suggested that it be used as an ornament to hang from the mirror of your car. That is what I think I am going to do with this one.
With the flower in the hat, I used a pattern of my own and a hotdog button for the center. I felt it was kind of clownish.

Another item completed from my list. This apron was so easy anyone could draft up the pattern, which is what I did. It is just two squares with straps attached.

Hook size was a "G" and the yarn was Bernat Miami in Ocean Blue and White.

A Little Sidestep

I took a little break from the usual Amigurumi and made this little sweater using up the skein of yarn I had used to make the Cute Kitten with. My hook was a size "G" and the yarn was Bernat Baby Stripes.

I had been wanting to try this pattern for quite some time and my sister gave me an excuse to do it.
The pattern is called Hexagon Sweater Jacket.

I have several patterns selected for items I want to make next and not sure which I will chose but my heart is running toward the circus. Can you guess?

Found this hat pattern at the Crochet Me site and had to give it a try. I used Bernat Baby Boucle' in Fancy Free. But wish I had used a different yarn that would of allowed the pattern to show up more. But I am trying to use up some scraps. Seems I am going to have to make some baby things to use up what I have. That is not a problem I do have some ideas.
The hook I used was an "I" and I skipped about six rows after round 14 or it would of covered my eyes. It is okay but not something that I am head over heals about. But the pattern is easy and I may make this one again in another yarn, someday.

Cuddly Kitten

Last year my friend June, from over at She spins wool gave me some books and patterns from Annie's Attic that she no longer felt she wanted to make. It took me a long time but I finally got around to making one of the patterns from the book "Cute Cats to crochet". These top two photos are from the cover and are the same cat in different colors and poses.

Well, I made this one with Bernat Baby Coordinates Sweet Stripes in Sprite Stripes. I used an "H" hook and used less then a 5.25 oz skein. It is a gift for sis because we all know how she loves green. These bottom two photos are my version of the Cuddly Kitten. He was fun to make and a nice reprieve from the smaller Crobots. I could not wait to send it so had to show sis the kitten on line. It is so hard to wait.

Well another one joins the Bot Family. This one was easy but he took me a long time as I started an secret project and put him to the side. But I am back on track now. As a refresher I used Starlet yarn and a "D" hook because I work tightly. Oh, and the pattern book was one that I won last year and is called "Crobots 20 amigurmi robots to make". I won it from over at Craft Gossip.
I received a nice package today from sis with a large shiney page book called Doo Wop and I have got to stop now so I can delve into the book. I am progressing on the apron and granny shrug also. I am not idle even though I am not posting much. Hands are better too. New medicine from the doctor has my entire body feeling better. Yeahhhhhhhhhh!

Here is the lastest in the collection. He was more fun. I find it amazing at the many different ways of crocheting these bots. They all look the same but they are all different in the way they are crocheted. Of course we can see they are different in assembly.

He has a droopy eye and I did not add the beads at the bottom or on the sides. I just got lazy.

I should mention here that I am still working on the apron and also started a granny shrug. More on that as time goes on.

Circular Shawl Completed

I finished it today. I skipped several rows but it is big enough for me. It is the Circular Shawl that I started a while ago. Back in 2010 using an "L" hook and Caron One Pounder yarn in Pale Green and Sage.

As I said I skipped some rows which made it a bit shorter than the pattern but it is long enough for me and you can lengthen it by folding it off center. It is plenty warm since you wear it folded in half. It was the last item that I did not get to finish last year. Now it is done and I can move on, with a clear conscious, to this years items. I am currently working on the Crobots and also a Bib Apron for myself. I would like to make this year my Amigurumi year, since I have so many of those patterns saved. We will see how things work out. My hands are really tore up right now from itching which is caused by some kind of fungus, therefore my crochet is slowing down.

This one was fun to do. I like the flat head instead of a circle. It makes him easy to work on. I did not add the arms as I only have a few springs left and I added a dragon fly instead of a screw. I like the results.

I don't think of zombies as green but why NOT? I did not have any of the yarn suggested or a color I liked so I used Simply Soft in a speckled yarn of which I had a small scarp ball. I was worried I would run out but as you can see I did not and even have a bit of it left. Hook size was the same as before. This was the third one in the book and the next one is MechanoBot.

Sis was going to send some of the right color yarn but I was too anxious to wait. Perhaps she will do hers in that color. I think he turned out okay though.

Well we started the Bots today and he was really kind of fast but had way toooooooooo many parts for my taste. As you can see from the picture I did not make him according their recommendations. But he is okay in my book. I was a bit surprised at how large he turned out. I pictured them smaller.
