Lip Balm Holders

I have been very busy making some squares for my Stitches of Love group, but I took a break from it briefly today to make two of these holders. I found the pattern at JPF Crochet Club yesterday. It was called Lip Balm Holder. I made one for my grandson in green and my daughter in pink. Why do I have a lighter in one? Because it is the perfect holder for a person who cannot keep track of their lighters, such as my daughter and grandson. So, I adapted the pattern to accommodate a lighter. No need to even remove it from the holder or your neck to "flick your bic."

Here is a closer shot of the items. I used a "0" hook and beadnik yarn left over from another project for the pink one and green #3 left over from another project. It took all of maybe 30 minutes or less to whip these up and they were well received. Great stocking stuffers for smokers or lip balm users. Perhaps you could even come up with another use for them.

These are the 11 squares I have completed so far. Granny squares are really boring to look at but I hoped to add some appeal by adding a little Easter flare. I have 9 others in various degrees of completion. They are made from scrap yarns that was mostly donated by my friend June. I hope to have these last 9 done by tomorrow.

Our CFAC group is making toys next month and I would dearly love to make some of those that are on my list already. Of course the KAL group is also ready to start it's themed dishcloth for April and there are two scarfs to be made next month also. Then I have a very important Birthday coming up near the end of the month and I would like to give a handcrafted item. So it is going to be a busy month for me, if you don't hear from me much don't worry I am crocheting my fingers to the bone and setting my hooks on FIRE!

That's it today. Ghost, OUT!

Those holders are a great idea! I bet the kids at UC Davis would love lip balm holders!!! I have to try to find a free pattern. :) Thanks for the idea!!!

That is such a cool idea...The kids love to have their own lipbalm, and that would be a way to keep track of it, instead of finding it in some odd place...
I love to make granny squares, even if they are boring, you can make them so unique in just the colors you want..I like to add a flower or such to mine, for flare..
They are the very first thing I learned how to make...

Well there you go again. Thinking of the needs of others. The kids are going to love these if you decide to make more of them. I bet you could make one to hold those tiny portable thumb drives. Perfect for all the Geeks.

Well done sis. *HUGS*
